The trailer video for Audi’s new web mini-series, The Next Big Thing, starring Justin Timberlake and the new Audi A1 was released today. It seems to be very inspired by The Transporter, which featured Jason Statham and the Audi A8, as well as Audi’s S6 Superbowl Commercial with Jason Statham, which seemed to be a really effective marketing tactic to make those cars look desirable and all around badass. Since compact cars have the image of “cute and girly” in the US, it’s a smart move to emphasize its fun-to-drive factor, and try to spin that small doesn’t have to mean “cute.”
The trailer itself is a bit over the top though, like it was being compiled for someone with the worst case of ADD in existence. Perhaps they feared they’d lose your attention if an explosion didn’t happen every other second. Hopefully the actual episodes are a bit more, ummm….realistic? Not that I’ll expect any kind of deep, profound plot line, but hopefully there’s at least a little storyline ala Fast and the Furious style to tie together the explosions and car chase scenes coherently. Maybe someone will even get beat up over a tuna fish sandwich ![]()
