VolkStock 2013 by Lunde’s Peoria VW & GermanToyz
I had a chance to check out VolkStock 2013 by Lunde’s Peoria VW & GermanToyz yesterday. The show was in a large grassy field in West Phoenix and was one of the better organized shows I’ve been to in a while. There were well over 200 cars in attendance, with a strong focus on aircooled VWs.
The name of the show is a play on words from WoodStock, and attendees were encouraged to where tie-die and summon their inner hippie while attending. There was live music, great food, and a lot of cool vendor booths. There was also a row of dogs for adoption which was pretty cool too (I found one I’m strongly considering as a matter of fact, haha).
The show had a very small gathering of watercooled & newer VWs/Audis as the focus of the show was really aircooled cars. I was totally fine with that, but it was good to see some newer cars too. I got to hang out with some friends I’ve met through the VW/Audi scene over the past few years here in Phoenix.
One of my favorite parts of the show was the ample space for parking. Some car shows pack the cars in so tight you can barely walk between them – here there was tons of extra space and you could really walk around and enjoy the cars.
You can really see in the pictures what a cool and diverse group of VWs were in attendance. Some cars were pretty OEM and others were modified so wildly you could barely recognize it was a VW anymore, like the Beetle below:
I’ll let the rest of the pictures do the talking, but needless to say, it was a great time!
