This month’s featured ride is quite the special Audi – it’s the actual movie car used in the production of Iron Man 2! This Tsuzuka Grey Audi R8 Spyder was driven by Robert Downey Jr. aka Tony Stark and when I heard it was going to be in Scottsdale I had to go see it.
The car was on a press tour across the US visiting select dealerships before being sent back to Germany to be destroyed (that tragic life of a press car!), and it wound up at Audi North Scottsdale for a few days. Audi North Scottsdale is my dealership of choice in the Phoenix area, and if you go be sure to talk to Brian McCauley – he’s a fellow Audi enthusiasts himself and drives a wicked Garrett GT28RS big turbo Audi A3 and really knows his stuff – he’s also president of the local Audi Club of North America chapter.
In real life, the Audi R8 Spyder rocks out a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds with its 525 hp 5.2 liter V10 engine, along with the acclaimed Audi Quattro system and stunning good looks – a suitable machine for a movie’s superhero, no doubt.
