I got a media alert from Audi of America today about a new offering that I thought was surprisingly affordable and compelling – in-car internet from T-Mobile for as little as $15/month! While in-car internet may sound frivolous and unnecessary at first, let me remind you that this internet isn’t for viewing Facebook or Instagram when you’re bored at a stop light (or even worse while you’re driving!). Instead, Audi’s in-car internet offering is designed for providing real-time data on your navigation screen with traffic, streaming internet radio, and yes, even tethering other devices (iPads, etc), although I wouldn’t recommend using those devices unless you’re a passenger or at a complete stop. Pictured above is the interior of the 2015 Audi S3 Sedan, one of many cars that will offer the Audi Connect system that leverages the in-car Wi-Fi plans through T-Mobile.

As a premium brand, Audis generally command premium prices. It is nice to see the brand team up with T-Mobile  to offer something more affordable, making in-car wifi not seem so indulgent and unnecessary, but instead a great value that could potentially save tons of time and hassle.

Audi of America and T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced a new data plan that will provide Audi drivers with in-vehicle connectivity at a fraction of the cost of its competitors’ plans.

With the new data plan, Audi owners can obtain real-time news, weather and fuel prices, access to Google Earth™ and Google Voice™ Local Search and retrieve information conveniently and securely over Wi-Fi through the award-winning Audi connect® infotainment and navigation system for as little as $15 per month. Passengers in models featuring Audi connect can enjoy broadband connectivity for up to eight devices.

A leading national customer satisfaction survey showed that Audi buyers rank the Audi connect service as the second largest factor behind their purchase decision – just behind design and ahead of engine performance. Today, with the new data plan pricing, Audi and T-Mobile enable even more Audi drivers and their passengers to access high-speed data services on the go.
