Tempe to Tortilla Flat Cruise – Jan 2010
I met up with some fellow Audi drivers last weekend and took a drive from Tempe out to Tortilla Flat in Arizona. The route I took was the 60-East all the way out to Apache Junction, then taking the 88 Old Highway all the way until the pavement ends in Tortilla Flat and it becomes unpaved roads. This route is commonly known as the Apache Trail. It was extremely fun and a great drive for anyone in the Phoenix area – beautiful scenery and great, curvy roads. I clocked about 99 miles round trip and used only a quarter of a tank of gas, not bad given I was in tiptronic the whole time and driving rather aggressively. This was the first cruise I’ve taken since installing my quad tip Billy Boat exhaust, APR test pipe, and APR Stage 2 tune – and the car was much more responsive, the turbo spooled quicker, and the sound was a delight to the ears. It was also a great photo op although our cars were a bit dirty. You may notice my car isn’t in a few of the pics as I was late to join the group…I overslept!
Our group consisted of:
- 2009 Audi A5 2.0T – stock
- B7 Audi RS4 – Custom Tune, Magnaflow Exhaust, JHM Solid Shifter
- B7 Audi S4 DTM – STaSIS everything: wheels, suspension, exhaust, more?
- A modified B5 Audi S4
- My Modified Audi A4 B7
And on with the pics!
