Sidekick Back Seat Car Cover for Dogs

IMG_1065

I was recently given a Sidekick Pet Car Seat Cover with Dog Seatbelt Harness to review on my site, and it was perfect timing as I had just completed a full leather conditioning of my white leather seats, and was hesitant to allow my black dog to mess them all up again during one of our many trips to the dog beach, dog park, or her favorite – dog-friendly restaurants.

This seat cover sells on Amazon for a pretty affordable $65 and is Prime eligible (a must for me!), and installs in a few seconds. I opted for the lighter color and while it’s not a perfect match against Audi’s Platinum Silver, it is pretty close to Platinum Grey and still matches my interior pretty well. I installed it in about 20 seconds as it just slips over the headrests, and the hammock feature is pretty neat. It’s meant to be universal fit and I can confirm it definitely fits great in the back of my B7 Audi S4, and fits equally as well in my wife’s Ford Focus hatchback too…given it’s size and how easy the straps adjust, I honestly can’t think of a rear seat this wouldn’t work in except for maybe jump seats in a short cab pickup.

My favorite part is the seatbelt, as I always worry that a sudden stop would send my dog flying towards the windshield. This seatbelt is really just a leash that clips into the seatbelt system, so while it’s not a full restraint system it will help keep the dog from wandering around the car and would minimize the effect of a full-on crash if it were to ever happen, yet it’s pretty easy to clip on and minimally invasive to the dog. From a safety perspective this system also means you’ll put your dog in the back seat, so they’re less likely to be hit by a front airbag which could do more damage than good for a small or medium size dog (much like a small child).

The material has a Gore-tex style finish and seems easy to clean and spill resistant, a must-have for any dog owner. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a simple and straightforward way to keep dog hair and dog mess off their seats!

Disclaimer: I was provided this product for free to try on my blog, but it in no way informed my opinion.
